Supercharging and Turbocharging System

Image
Construction & Working of Supercharging System and Turbocharging System. OBJECTIVES: To get knowledge about the Supercharging its drives, types and their construction and working.and turbo charging system. Introduction: A   supercharger   is an air   compressor   used for increasing the   pressure, temperature, and density of air   supplied to an   internal combustion engine . This compressed air supplies a greater mass of oxygen per cycle of the engine to support combustion than available to a   naturally aspirated engine , enabling for more   fuel   to be burned and more work   to be done per cycle, thus allowing to increase the power produced by the engine.Power for the supercharger can be provided mechanically by means of a belt, gear, shaft, or chain connected to the engine's   crankshaft . When power is provided by a turbine   powered by   exhaust gas , a supercharger is known as a   turbo ...

Engine Lubrication Systems

Construction & Working of lubrication systems. OBJECTIVES:- ·          To get knowledge about the lubricating system its additives, components. INTRODUCTION:- ·          Lubrication system is used in the engine to run the engine by keeping wear proof, and working it without getting over heat, and keep the parts smooth and easily movable. ·          An   Automatic Lubrication System, often referred to as a Centralized Lubrication System, generally comprises a controller or timer, a   pump   and   reservoir ,   metering valves   and   fittings   and supply and   feed lines . ·          It typically delivers a controlled amount of   lubricant   (either   grease   or   oil ) to multiple, specific locations on a machine while the machine is op...

Engine Cooling System

Construction & Working About Cooling System Introduction: Cooling system is used in the engine to run the engine by keeping cool, and working it without getting over heat. Type of cooling systems: ·          According to air cooling ·          According to water cooling Air cooling: Most modern   internal combustion engines   are cooled by a closed circuit carrying liquid   coolant   through channels in the engine block and cylinder head, where the coolant absorbs heat, to a   heat exchanger   or   radiator   where the coolant releases heat into the air. Thus, while they are   ultimately   cooled by air, because of the liquid-coolant circuit they are known as   water-cooled. In contrast, heat generated by an air-cooled engine is released directly into the air. Typically this is facilitated with metal   fins   covering...

Fuel Injectors, its Nozzle & Fuel Filters.

Construction & Operation Of Fuel Injectors, its Nozzle & Fuel Filters. FUEL INJECTOR (OR ATOMISER) The purpose of the fuel injector is to inject a small volume of fuel in a fine spray and to assist in bringing each droplet into contact with sufficient oxygen to give quick and complete combustion.  Fig. shows C.A. V. fuel injector. It consists of a needle valve which is pressed on its seating in the nozzle by a plunger or spindle. A compressionspring controls the pressure upon the plunger by which the needle valve opens. A nozzle is attached to the body of the injector by a cap nut. The fuel enters the nozzle through drillings in the injector body. The fuel may pass from a gallery down the sides of the lower parts of the needle valve, or it may enter an annular groove in the nozzle and then pass through drillings to a point just above the nozzle seat. The body or the nozzle holder provides access for the fuel and an outlet for the fuel that leaks into the area occup...
